Dorchester Academy and Museum is located in Midway Georgia. The address is 8787 E. Oglethorpe Hwy Midway, GA 31320. Dorchester was founded after the Civil War as a school for freed slaves. In 1917 the school had become fully accredited high school with eight frame buildings and 300 students. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would come to Dorchester to relax, play baseball, and rehearse his speeches before going to the civil rights movement. The Boys' Dormitory is still standing, and the room MLK jr. slept in still stands today. If you love history and love American history stop by Dorchester Academy and Museum.
